Lesson 4.2: the About page, and the fact sheet.

0:05The problem

Lots of About pages say a lot, and tell you nothing: we're a young, passionate team that puts the customer first. A page an AI engine can use is different: it says who you are, what you do, where, since when, and with whom. Facts that can be checked.

0:22What it must say

Here are the eight facts every About page should include. Your exact business name. What you do, in one sentence. Where you are. And since when. Who works there, and their role. Your main services. How to contact you. And the numbers that matter, always with a date.

0:41The fact sheet

Before you rewrite the page, prepare a fact sheet: an internal document with the official values, and the date of the last update. Name, what you do, location, phone, founding year, people, services. It's your single source of truth: your website, listings, social profiles and structured data copy from here. When a fact changes, change it here, then everywhere.

1:08A public fact page?

What about a public page with your facts? It's useful, but not required. It can gather the official facts in one place, readable by both people and bots. But it's not a standard, and it doesn't replace a good About page.

1:24Your task for today

Your task for today: fill in your fact sheet. Then rewrite your About page with the eight facts, and bring your Contact page and footer in line with the sheet.

1:45Next lesson
