Introduction

Lesson 10.3: the Wix lab.

The lab site

Last lab: the same method, on Wix. The site is a demo: the same made-up coffee roaster, on a Wix site with the free plan. We only work in the Wix dashboard: SEO and GEO, the store, and the blog. Five steps: the SEO and GEO dashboard, robots.txt and llms.txt, the blog's structured data, the product page, and an article with a link to the product.

1. SEO & GEO and the robots.txt

Step one: in Marketing, SEO and GEO. This is where Wix gathers the tools for search engines and for AI. There's also a panel on visibility in AI, with ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. But it doesn't replace your audit: you choose the questions, as in Module 2. Further down, under Tools and settings, we open the Robots.txt Editor. On the free plan, Wix first asks you to connect your own domain. With a domain, you edit the file right here, for example to block a training bot.

2. The llms.txt file

Step two: llms.txt. Wix generates it for you, from the site's content, and keeps it up to date. Here too, you need a connected domain: until you have one, the file isn't published. With a domain, you can view it, edit it, or turn it off. And what you saw in Lesson 3.3 still holds: it's useful, but nobody guarantees the engines will read it.

3. The blog's structured data

Step three: structured data. In SEO Settings, choose the page type: Blog posts. In the Customize defaults tab, open the structured data markup settings. Wix already uses a template for every article: BlogPosting. Inside are the author, the publish and update dates, the headline and the image, all taken from the article itself. You don't have to write it: you just have to fill in the article properly.

4. The product page

Step four: the product page, in Catalog, Products. The name, a description with the answer in the first lines, and the price. Further down, the other sections of the product: variants, inventory, and additional info. In the code of the published page, Wix writes a Product block: name, SKU, price, availability and seller. All taken from the product page.

5. An article and a link to the product

Step five: an article. In the blog, we open the one on how to store coffee beans. The opening already works: the answer is in the first sentence. At the end, we add a real customer question: do you need a coffee grinder at home? And the answer right away, in one sentence. Then the link: we select the words manual coffee grinder, and link them to the product page. Publish. In the live article: the question, the answer, and the link to the product, on the right words.

The recap

Let's recap. On Wix, robots.txt and llms.txt are managed from the dashboard, with your own domain. And the dashboard also gives you a first look at your visibility in AI. Wix writes the structured data for articles and products, taking it from your content. Your job is to write the product page and the article well, and link them together. And then you measure again, with the same questions, as in Module 9.

Your task for today

Your task for today: on your Wix site, open SEO and GEO, and check robots.txt, llms.txt, and the structured data for your blog and products. Then write an article that answers a real question, with a link to the product. And log everything in the Report tab.

Next module

Module 10 is done. In Module 11: AEO as a service, and how to work for clients. See you there.

Your task

On your Wix site, open SEO and GEO, and check robots.txt, llms.txt, and the structured data for your blog and products. Then write an article that answers a real question, with a link to the product. And log everything in the Report tab.

Track it in the course worksheet.
