The CiteProof app is what lets the platform write to your Wix site. Everything below works from the full dashboard: open it with Open the CiteProof dashboard from the CiteProof page in Wix (see Installing the Wix app).
One-click fixes
Open Fixes in the dashboard. With the app installed, fixes for your Wix site have an Apply on Wix button. The app applies:
- Meta title and description: they become the page's own SEO title and description. The page's other SEO tags stay as they are.
- Structured data (JSON-LD): it is added to the page as a script tag. If a block of ours with the same type is already there, the new one replaces it, so they don't pile up.
The fixes from the analysis are about the whole site (who you are, what you do), so they go on your home page: Wix has no place for site-wide structured data. The change is saved and published in one go, so it is live on the site right away. When it works you read: "Fix applied on the Wix site: the home page's title, description and structured data are updated."
The general flow of fixes (priorities, review, verification) is the same on every platform: Apply fixes.
When a fix doesn't go through
- Business details missing. The structured data that describes your business is rebuilt from your confirmed business details. If they are incomplete you read: "Complete and confirm your Business details (legal name, phone, full address, business type) before applying the schema." Fill them in and try again.
- Incomplete or invalid schema. If the generated structured data is missing data or isn't valid, it isn't applied, and the message says what is missing.
- Permissions. If Wix refuses the change for a missing permission, the message says so: reopen the app from the Wix dashboard and accept it. If Wix returns no pages, check that the app has the Manage SEO Settings permission.
Undo: Remove from site
Every fix applied on Wix has a Remove from site link. CiteProof keeps what the page had before, so removing a fix puts the previous title, description and tags back. If the page had no tags of its own, it goes back to Wix's defaults. The fix returns among the ones to apply: "Fix removed from the site: it is back among the ones to apply."
What the app does not apply
- llms.txt and robots.txt. No Wix app can publish files at the root of the site or change robots.txt. If you press apply on one of these fixes you read: "On Wix this fix type can't be applied from the app: no app can change llms.txt or robots.txt. Everything else we apply for you." More on these two files in AI bots and robots.txt.
- FAQ pages. An FAQ fix is content to put on a page: on Wix the app doesn't create it. Use Show code to copy and add the questions and answers to a page in the Wix editor.
Articles on the Wix blog
Articles written by the Content Agent (Content in the dashboard) are published to your Wix blog through the app. On the article page, once the article is ready (Mark as ready), the publish button sends it to the Wix blog and it goes live right away: you read "Article published to your Wix blog." With Schedule you pick a date and time and the article is published to the Wix blog by itself; recurring publishing uses the same channel.
What happens to the article on the way:
- the text keeps its formatting: headings, links and tables;
- the cover image is imported into your Wix media and used as the post's cover;
- images inside the text are left out, because Wix only shows images from its own media;
- the post needs an author: the app uses the site's first member, or creates one for your business.
In the CiteProof page in Wix, the articles row counts how many are published on the blog and how many are still in draft, meaning ready in CiteProof but not published yet. The full walkthrough of the Content Agent is in Generate your first article.
Wix Stores: products and categories
If your site has a Wix Stores shop, open Store in the dashboard (or Open the catalog from the Wix page). The first time, the page offers to read the catalog; after that, Refresh catalog reads it again.
- Catalog sync. The app reads the visible products, newest first, up to the number your plan includes, and the categories. Each product gets a score that says how ready its page is for AI answers; categories are scored after them.
- Product pages. Rewrite the sheet writes a new description from the product's real facts. Apply to the store writes it into the Wix product; with Also write the SEO title and meta description ticked, the product's SEO title and description are written too. Undo puts the previous version back.
- Categories. Write the mini-guide prepares a short guide for the category. Once applied it becomes the category's description in Wix, with its SEO title and description.
Not on Wix yet:
- Image alt texts. "On Wix the alt texts are not written by the app yet: edit them in the Wix product media."
- Store policies. "Wix shares no store policies with apps": write them in the Wix dashboard.
- Business identity (Organization) on the store page. On Wix it is written from the Fixes page, as structured data on the home page.
If Wix answers slowly
Sometimes Wix's servers take too long to answer. CiteProof already retries once by itself; if Wix still doesn't answer you read: "Wix didn't answer in time (its server returned a timeout). It isn't a permission problem: try again in a few minutes." Wait a few minutes and press apply again. The reason stays visible on the fix even if you reload the page.
Why do fixes go on the home page and not on every page?
The fixes from the analysis describe the whole site, and Wix has no place for site-wide structured data, so the app writes them on the home page, the page that stands for the whole site.
Can I undo a fix applied on Wix?
Yes. Press Remove from site on the applied fix: the page gets back the title, description and tags it had before, and the fix returns among the ones to apply.
Can CiteProof publish llms.txt on my Wix site?
No. Wix does not let any app publish files at the root of the site or change robots.txt. Everything else the app applies for you.
I got the message that Wix didn't answer in time. Did I do something wrong?
No. It means Wix's servers were slow at that moment. It isn't a permission problem: try again in a few minutes.
