Store truth: home page and business data

Store truth checks what the store's home page tells AI engines: one Organization entity with consistent name, logo, contacts and social profiles. In one click the app writes the missing data into the theme head, through the app block, and checks it again.

Updated October 2026

What is checked

The app reads the home page as an AI would: it looks for one Organization (or OnlineStore) entity with name, logo, contacts, social profiles and a stable id. It flags missing data, duplicates (two Organizations with different names) and data inconsistent with the business sheet.

The score

The 0 to 100 score of the Store section sums up these checks. Below it, the issues in order of importance, each with the button that fixes it.

Applying the fix

Fix the business data builds one Organization from the confirmed business sheet and writes it into the theme head through the CiteProof · Head data block. If the block is not enabled, the app says so and the fix waits.

After applying, the app checks the home page again: the score rises only when the data is really live.

What it does not do

It does not edit theme files and does not touch the home page texts: it works in the head only, through the app block. If you ever disable the block, the data leaves the home page and the app flags it.

robots.txt and AI bots

In the same section, after the home check, the app reads the store's robots.txt and says which AI bots are kept out. The ones that matter feed the answers: ChatGPT search (OAI-SearchBot), Perplexity, Claude, Copilot (Bingbot). If one is blocked the store cannot be cited by that engine and the score drops. The file belongs to the theme: fix it in Online Store → Themes → Edit code → robots.txt.liquid. The app does not change it. Shopify's default robots.txt lets everyone in.

The /pages/ai-info page

With Write the page the app creates (or updates) the /pages/ai-info page with the business facts as you wrote them in the dashboard's fact sheet (Brand → Fact sheet): name, address, contacts, what you sell, official profiles, and a note for AI assistants. Nothing invented: if the sheet is empty the app asks you to fill it first. It is the same page the plugin publishes on WordPress sites.

Password-protected store

If the store is protected, enter the password in the dedicated section: the checks use it to read the home page. Without it, the check stops at the password page.

CiteProof tracks your brand's visibility across AI answer engines and tells you what to change to get cited.
