On Wix you pay for CiteProof through Wix, like any other app in the Wix App Market. If you already pay a plan on citeproof.co, you don't need to buy anything in Wix: see Link your Wix site to your CiteProof account.
The plans and prices
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 |
| Visible | $79/month | $63.20/month, billed yearly |
| Cited | $149/month | $119.20/month, billed yearly |
| Dominant | $269/month | $215.20/month, billed yearly |
Prices are in US dollars. Yearly billing costs about 20% less. Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial.
Moving up raises the limits. On a Wix Stores shop, for example, the plan decides how many products the app reads from your catalog: 10 on Free, 100 on Visible, 300 on Cited, 1,000 on Dominant.
Upgrading
On the Free plan, at the bottom of the CiteProof page in your Wix dashboard, you find Upgrade to a paid plan, with the note: "Billing goes through Wix: pick the plan on the app's pricing page and come back here with the new plan's limits." The button opens Wix's own pricing page for the app, in a new tab. You pay there, and the charge appears on your Wix billing.
Only the site owner sees the button, and only while the site is on Free. When you come back to the CiteProof tab the page reloads by itself; Wix tells us about the purchase, and the app also re-reads the plan from Wix at least once an hour.
Changing or cancelling
Since the plan is billed by Wix, you change or cancel it from Wix, in Manage apps, not from CiteProof. The CiteProof dashboard says the same on its billing page: "Plan active through the Wix app: change or cancel it from the app in the Wix dashboard, not here." There the price shows as "billed by Wix".
When the plan ends, Wix lets us know and the site goes back to Free. Uninstalling the app also ends the plan paid through Wix.
Where your plan comes from
The site gets the highest of three possible plans, and the plan line at the bottom of the CiteProof page tells you which one counts:
- Plan: Visible (or Cited, Dominant, Free) with nothing after it: the plan comes from Wix, the one you pay in Wix.
- Plan: Cited · included in your CiteProof subscription: the plan comes from your CiteProof account, the one you pay on the website. This shows after you link the site to your account.
- Plan: … · offered by CiteProof: the plan was offered by CiteProof to this site.
If two sources give the same plan, Wix counts.
Why Wix may still say Start Free Trial
If your plan comes from your CiteProof account, Wix's Manage apps screen may still show Start Free Trial next to CiteProof. That button belongs to Wix and only knows about plans bought in Wix: it can't see a plan paid on citeproof.co. Inside the app, the plan line shows your real plan, and that is the one that counts. You don't need to start the trial.
I already pay a plan on citeproof.co. Do I have to buy it again in Wix?
No. Link the Wix site to your account from the CiteProof page in Wix: the plan you already pay applies there too, and the plan line says included in your CiteProof subscription.
Wix shows Start Free Trial, but the app says I have a plan. Which is right?
The app. The Start Free Trial button is Wix's and only knows plans bought in Wix. If your plan comes from your CiteProof account, Wix can't see it, but the app does.
How do I cancel a plan bought in Wix?
From Wix, in Manage apps. CiteProof can't change or cancel a plan billed by Wix. When the plan ends, the site goes back to Free.
Why don't I see the Upgrade to a paid plan button?
It appears only to the site owner and only while the site is on Free. If you already have a plan, from Wix or from your CiteProof account, the button is hidden.
