The before-and-after report on your AI visibility

Lesson 9.4 of the free AEO and GEO course: how to put together a before-and-after report on your visibility in AI answers, for the business owner or the client. What to put on one page, an example, how to describe changes without claiming causes you can't prove, and four mistakes to avoid.

Lesson 9.4: the report.

0:04What it's for

A report is there to help you decide, not to impress. Whoever reads it, owner or client, needs three things in two minutes: where we were, where we are, and what we do next. That's why one page is enough.

0:19What to include

Here's what to include, in this order. The period and method: how many questions, which engines, the dates of both audits. Your citation share at the start and today, engine by engine too. And who still wins in your place. The visits and leads that came from AI, keeping in mind they're a minimum. Finally, what was done, and the next three steps.

0:43An example

Here's how it can look, with example numbers. At the top, the citation share before and after, with the dates. Below, the engines one by one: where you went up, and also where you went down. And at the bottom, the next steps, each one tied to a specific page or source.

1:01How to word the changes

Be careful how you write about what changed. Don't write: thanks to our work, you showed up on ChatGPT. You can't prove that. Write the facts, in time order: on March 3, we rewrote the pricing page. In April, that page is cited on two more questions. The reader sees the sequence and draws their own conclusions. And it's a report people can trust, even when the numbers go down.

1:26Mistakes to avoid

Four mistakes to avoid. A screenshot of a single lucky answer, shown off as proof. Questions that changed between audits. Promised positions: in AI answers, positions don't exist. And hidden drops. A drop you explain is worth more than a success no one can check.

1:44Your task for this module

Your task for this module: with the second audit done, fill in the Report tab of the course worksheet. The counts update on their own from the Before and after tab. Add visits, leads, what you did and the next three steps. Then show it to whoever decides, on one page.

2:18Next module

Module 9 is done. In Module 10 we put it all together, in the lab: WordPress, Shopify and Wix, from start to finish. See you there.

Your task

With the second audit done, fill in the Report tab of the course worksheet. The counts update on their own from the Before and after tab. Add visits, leads, what you did and the next three steps. Then show it to whoever decides, on one page.

Track it in the course worksheet.

  • Method: Lessons 2.2 (audit), 2.4 (citation share), 9.1 (re-measuring), 9.2 (visits), 9.3 (leads). The «Report» tab of the course worksheet, with the counts calculated from the «Before and after» tab.
  • Listing changes without claiming causes that cannot be proven: as in CiteProof's real check report, where the monthly proof «lists what changed on the site and in the answers, without claiming the cause» (Which AI Cites You, and Who It Cites Instead: a Real Check on a Real Site (2026)).
  • Example report: illustrative, numbers made up and labelled as such.
  • CiteProof: «Monthly proof» on the Brand page, comparing this month with the previous one (score, citations, questions tested, wrong facts corrected), downloadable as a PDF (The Brand page: how the AI engines see your business).

End of module 9: the quiz

Five questions on the “Re-measure and prove the results” module. Get four right and you pass.
