Lesson 7.3: product feeds, and shopping inside ChatGPT.

0:06What a feed is

A product feed is a file with your whole catalog: one row per product, always with the same fields. Instead of reading your pages one by one, the platform gets the data already in order, and updated every day. If you sell on Google Shopping, you probably have a feed already. The one for ChatGPT is similar, with its own rules.

0:28The nine required fields

OpenAI has published the specifications for its feed. There are nine required fields. The product ID, the title, the description, the page address, and the brand. Then the seller name, the image, the availability, and the price. The GTIN isn't one of the nine, but it helps. Lesson 7.1's rule applies: if there's none, don't invent one.

0:53Who can send it

Who can send one? For now, partners approved by OpenAI. You apply from a dedicated page on the ChatGPT website. The file is uploaded over an SFTP connection, and OpenAI recommends sending the whole thing at least once a day. And one important detail: today, OpenAI's standard format is designed for the United States.

1:16What changed in 2026

Shopping in ChatGPT has changed fast. In September 2025, buying right inside the chat arrived in the United States, starting with Etsy sellers. In 2026, the direction changed. ChatGPT helps people discover products, and shoppers finish the purchase on the store's own website, in a browser inside ChatGPT. On Shopify, the ChatGPT channel is on by default for eligible stores. The store can be based outside the United States, but it has to sell to US customers.

1:49What to prepare outside the US

If you sell mostly outside the US, what can you do today? First: complete product pages and correct Product data. They're the same facts that end up in every feed. Second: let in OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT's search bot. It's the one that reads your pages when someone asks a question. Third: keep a clean feed ready, with the nine fields, and your terms, privacy and returns pages published. When access opens up to your market, you're already set.

2:21Your task for today

Your task for today: take your five product pages, and check that each one has all nine fields. If you already export a feed, open it in a spreadsheet, and look for rows where the brand, the description or the availability is empty.

2:54Next lesson

In the next lesson: Shopify, WooCommerce and Wix, and what changes in practice between the three platforms. See you there.

Your task

Take your five product pages, and check that each one has all nine fields. If you already export a feed, open it in a spreadsheet, and look for rows where the brand, the description or the availability is empty.

Track it in the course worksheet.
