Lesson 7.4: Shopify, WooCommerce and Wix, and what changes in practice.

0:07Same work, three dashboards

The work is always the same: well-written product pages, GTINs, Product data, published policies, and access for the bots. What changes is where you do it. Let's look at the three most popular platforms, with their basic settings, and no paid apps.

0:25Shopify

On Shopify, the theme already outputs Product data, with the name, brand, image, price and availability. Check in the test what's missing: for example the GTIN, shipping and returns. The GTIN goes in the product's details, under Inventory, in the barcodes. Each product, or variant, can have more than one. Also choose the product category, from Shopify's standard list: it unlocks specific fields, like material and color. And a useful detail: Shopify makes your products available to AI channels automatically, for eligible stores, on the Starter plan or higher.

1:07WooCommerce

WooCommerce outputs the basic Product data on its own. Since version 9.2, it has a built-in GTIN field, on every product and every variation. You don't need a plugin. You set the brand under Products, Brands. And the refund and returns page is created as a draft when you install it: write it with your own terms, and publish it. For organization data and for the feed, you usually need a plugin: pick one, and check the result in the test.

1:38Wix

On Wix, every product page automatically gets a default Product markup. You edit it from the SEO settings, under product pages, in the structured data. If the test shows a field is missing, you can add it there. Wix also generates the llms.txt file, and has an editor for robots.txt, in the same settings. Your shipping and return policies, though, you write as published pages, and link them from your product pages.

2:08In short

In short: all three output the basic Product data. The difference is how much you can complete without touching any code. Whatever platform you use, the test always has the final say: what you see there is what the engine reads.
